Martha King is a fashion designer located in San Francisco, California.

I began making and creating clothing as a young girl, learning from my mother and paper patterns picked carefully from the drawers at the JoAnn’s an hour and a half drive from my childhood home in Vermont.

After high school I attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design and obtained a BFA. While in Boston I began my career in lingerie as a bra fitter and sales associate for Agent Provocateur. I moved to San Francisco in 2012 and continued to work for Agent Provocateur. While I worked as a bra fitter, I began teaching myself how to construct and design bras for myself, and eventually for clients who sought me out for custom lingerie. My company, Sidone Lingerie, was born out of this and since 2013 I have been the sole person involved from concept to finished garment.

I enjoyed the process of dreaming up garments, then figuring out how to make it a reality so much, I decided to go back to school in 2018. City College in San Francisco has a wonderful design department and I began pursuing a certificate program in Pattern Making. The program at City College included intensive classes on Flat Pattern Techniques, Draping, Grading, Knitwear, Gerber Pattern Development, and Apparel Construction. I also pursued extracurricular classes in AutoCAD, and specialty garment fitting. Taking these classes has only solidified the goal for me to continue to develop my career with a brand local to me in San Francisco.

I am a committed self-starter who has time and again taken the initiative to figure out design processes and standards when the answers weren’t readily available. I am a hard, and detail oriented worker, completing the certificate program at CCSF in just two semesters while working part time and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to Academy of Art University and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Fashion Product Development. I am hungry to learn more from the industry professionals in San Francisco and am currently open to internships, apprenticeships, and garment development positions.
